The President of the Appeal Chamber, Mrs. Albana Shtylla welcomed today at the premises of the Appeal Chamber the Ambassador of the United States of America, Her Excellency Mrs. Yuri Kim and the OPDAT Resident Legal Advisor in Albania Mrs. Michelle Lakomy.

The President of the Appeal Chamber Mrs. Albana Shtylla informed the ambassador on the challenges of the re-evaluation process, the need and chances for its acceleration, and thanked her for continuously supporting the re-evaluation bodies, so that they carry out their constitutional function with responsibility and professionalism.

As well, the President of the Appeal Chamber informed Ms. Yuri Kim about the preparations and arrangements of the Appeal Chamber for the review of the disciplinary jurisdiction cases for the justice system, that this court is expected to have once the Inspector of High Court of Justice starts to operate on full basis and on the relevant decision-makings of the High Judicial Council and the High Prosecution Council.

Special focus during the meeting was given to the requests and concerns of the judges, regarding the functionality of the Appeal Chamber and the normal continuity of the re-evaluation process, guaranteeing independence in the decision-making of the Appeal Chamber.

Mrs. Shtylla deemed that the continuation of the support by the international partners, as well as their special attention to the success of the re-evaluation process is very necessary for the progress of the vetting process.
